Eden's First Car

Eden's first car

Eden waving bye-bye and saying b,b,b,b,bye

Eden got her first car yesterday morning. She wasn't quite sure what to do with it. But when Granny put her on it she was very excited. This car is so cool because you can sit on it and push with your feet, or you can open up the seat and spread it and walk inbetween it. And it has all these great noises and songs. You turn the key and it goes brum, brum. It's great.

Eden also had her first car accident too. She scooted backwards off the seat and face planted on the floor. It broke my heart. I hate having her cry. We got an ice pack and played with it. Made her giggle. And then daddy came to get her and everything was all better. Although she doesn't want to get on the car again today.

Have I mentioned how much I love spoiling my grandkids?

A Tooth

Eden has finally cut a tooth. I can't tell you how excited I was. This poor little girl has been trying for the last three months to cut this tooth. She has been so miserable. Fingers in the mouth all the time, drool everywhere. I came home from work on Wednesday and I looked at her gum ( Which may I add is an adventure all on it's own. As she clamps her lips shut and you have to pry them open) but I saw a split in the gum and when I felt...... sure enough sharp, pokey little tooth was peeking out. Granny is so happy. 1 down and about 20 more to go. Oh boy.

3 Months To Go

Well, it's 3 months until the wedding. Our house is in full swing.

I've got wedding lists on the table. Along with the invitations and the cards for where Ashley is registered. I'm waiting on final approval from Ashley and Travis before I start addressing envelopes. I still need to purchase all the stamps, but I will do that today and then I think we'll be ready to mail them all out the first week of February.

We went looking for bridesmaid dresses at Davids bridal. Did I mention how much I really, really, really don't like that place. Been there on three different occassions and didn't change my opinion. I always go in with an open mind, but they never seem to disappoint me with a new opinion. Anyways.... we were there with two of Ashley's bridesmaids. We were looking for a light blue tea length dress, the only one we found, we loved. The girls took it back to try it on and we loved it. Then the teenage attendant that worked for David's bridal said " I can't order it." We asked her what? She replied, " We can't get that dress anymore. If you want it I can give you phone numbers of other David's bridals and you can call and see if they have any on the rack and then you can buy the ones already on rack." We said you mean the dirty, dingy ones that other people have been trying on? She said yes. Not going to happen. Ashley was furious, I was frustrated and trying to come up with a different plan. Anyway's we have gone another direction all together. No David's Bridal.

So then we went and tried on Ashley's wedding dress that has come in. It was a long 5 months wait for it, but when she came out of the dressing room she looked beautiful. It fit perfectly. Just a couple alterations need to be made in the bodice, and we'll have that done on Feb. 7th. YEAH!!

We have to order Eden's dress and I think that's the majority of the last purchases. We need to find an arch and figure out how we want to decorate it, but other than that I think we're close to being ready.

Packages of wedding things are starting to arrive and we are excited. I've designated Adam's room as the holding spot for wedding supplies. Since he's in Indiana he doesn't mind. And that way it's not in Eden's reach. Anything and everything in her reach she seems to think it's hers.

3 months and counting. God grant me the serenity. LOL

Life With a 6 Month Old

Eden Rae with her new Christmas toys. She already loves the phone. Especially chewing on mommy and daddy's cell phones.

She is growing bigger and stronger each day. And what a personality.

Life is never dull when you have a 6 month old around. Eden keeps things interesting at our house. You know I probably never should have told her when she was a baby that she was the boss. Because now that she is 6 months old, she really thinks it. So the other day at Babies R Us I bought her a pink bib that reads "I'm the Boss". Grandma's can get away with those things because we get to give the kids back to the parents to discipline. We just get to have the fun of spoiling them rotten.

She loves to read books with her granny, and I'm to be in view at all times. It doesn't matter who is holding her, she follows me with her eyes. If I'm going into the kitchen she is crawling up poor great grandma to watch me. We love to play on the floor with our new toys. Although her favorite thing to do is to try and stand up. Miss Eden doesn't want to crawl, she wants to stand up and walk. She pulls herself up on everything possible and wabbles. Her little legs aren't strong enough to hold her, so they shake, but she doesn't care. Don't get me wrong, she is crawling all over, but she has miss balerina toes. She likes to crawl with her bottom in the air on her tiptoes. What a hoot. We had to put her bouncy toy away this week since she is getting so big. She loved bouncing in it, but she is the size of a one year old and the weight limit was 25 lbs. And she is now 26lbs. The doctor says she is in the 97% tile for her height and weight. But he says she is healthy and not too big.

She is a beautiful little girl with a huge personality. She loves to grab your face and kiss you with a big "Muah" afterwards. It's really cute. She has also started to wave at you if you say "hi Eden". I'm trying to teach her to blow kisses.

And bath time is a blast now that she can sit in the bathtub and kick her little feet and play with all of her bathtoys. She loves to have her bath. Grandma sings the Rubber Duckie song to her. Then we go and get our massage with the baby lotion. Eden loves her lotion time. We massage her for five minutes and she just loves it. What a girl! Phones and massages. Do you think she is going to be spoiled? I do.

Happy New Year?

Happy 2008!

I'm always glad when the holidays are over. I always feel like I'm a hampster in a wheel going nowhere and getting not much accomplished.

So with that said.... 2008 has me ready to start running.

* I have four months to get everything accomplished for Ashley's wedding. Needless to say, no stress here.

*Adam leaves for Indiana on Monday, Jan. 7th and I won't see him again until Ashley's wedding. Then he's planning on staying up in Richmond over the summer to work and get an apartment with friends. *sigh, no stress.

*My mom went to the doctor who said her body is shutting down and she is dying. *sigh, no stress.

Well, the next four months should prove to test my will and my strength, but I know that God doesn't give me anything I can't handle, and when he does, he provides a way for me to be strong through it. So.... I'm completely relying on God for my strength right now. He's about all I have that is keeping me sane these days. Let me tell you riding to work is a good thing. I can break down on the 20 minute ride to work and talk with God and He always comforts me. I praise God that I have a Father that loves and cares for me. Cuz' without him I'd be a total mess.

500th Win!!

Got to say a big Congratulations to Joe Paterno and his Nitany Lions!! They made watching the Alamo bowl exciting.
Can't begin to imagine what it feels like to take a bunch of kids and make them into a winning team. Joe has morals and ethics and stands by hard work and determination. He doesn't hesitate to tell some kid they aren't going to play because they chose not to follow the team rules. Even with 5 football players not playing, Joe and his team goes in as underdogs and gets his 27th bowl game win.
And he does it with humilty and style. He doesn't like to talk about himself. He wants the focus to be on his team. " Who cares if it's my 5ooth win, this game was as important as the first. It's not about me". If only more coaches would take that stand. If more coaches would have values and stand up for them. Then they could have the same record.
Way to go Penn State!!! I'm proud to be a Nitany Lion fan.
Now, if Oregon can win tomorrow afternoon, Dean might be as happy. Go Ducks!!!

Christmas with grandchildren *whew*

eden and her wrapping paper

Have I mentioned how exhausting it is to be a grandma? I had a great time shopping for the two munchkins in our family. And I feel like it went by in such a hurry. Don't know if I actually got to enjoy the event or not. Still chewing on it.

But it's extremely hard on us because we open our gifts on Christmas Eve and this year Ashley and Travis couldn't get Jullian until after 8:00 and it's an hour drive from his home in Winter Haven. So by the time they get here it's 9:00 PM and we have to hurry so that they can get home for sleep. I feel so sorry for him. He has to rush all Christmas morning because he has too many houses to go to. Divorce is so hard on the children.

So we had a hurried fun time watching the kids with their gifts. Eden loved the wrapping paper. She sat on Uncle Aaron's lap and watched for presents that she could open. I think the paper and the bows were here favorite thing to chew on.
Of course Jullian is great. He gets a gift and gives the giver a hug before he opens the present. He was a joy to watch this year. He can't wait to visit on Sunday so that he can play with his new soccer goals in Grandma's backyard. Uncle Adam bought him a hockey stick and some balls to go with the goals. I can't wait to watch the boys out in the backyard with the toys.
I can't believe my little girl is 6 months old already. Granny loves her tons and tons.
